Every drive is recorded and analyzed on your device. Trips, places and fuel logs back up to your own iCloud, so nothing is lost when you change phones — and there is no DriveMind server holding a copy.

Does it really record without me opening the app?

Yes. That is the whole point of AutoStart™. It needs two permissions to do it — Location set to Always, and Motion & Fitness — and the app asks for both during setup and explains why at the time.

What does it do to my battery?

DriveMind sits in a low-power standby between drives and only raises GPS accuracy once it believes you are actually driving. It is not streaming your location continuously.

Are my trips uploaded anywhere?

No. Trips are recorded, analyzed and stored on your iPhone. Backup goes to your own iCloud account, which we cannot read. There is no DriveMind server holding your driving history.

Can I use it for tax deductions?

DriveMind produces a mileage report at the IRS standard rate for the year in question, split by business, personal and custom purposes, exportable as PDF or CSV. Whether a given drive is deductible is between you and your accountant.

Do I need an account?

No. DriveMind works fully signed out. An account only exists so that you can add friends, and it can be deleted from Settings ▸ Account at any time.
