How can we help?
DriveMind is made by one person. Email reaches me directly, and I answer.
The fastest way to reach a human. Tell me your iPhone model, your iOS version and what happened.
Report a problem, from inside the app
Better for bugs. Settings ▸ Help ▸ Report a problem attaches a screenshot and a diagnostic log to your message, which usually saves a round trip of questions.
Recording & AutoStart
DriveMind is not recording my drives automatically
AutoStart needs two permissions, and iOS quietly turns the first one down more often than people expect. Check both:
- Location must be "Always", not "While Using the App". iOS ▸ Settings ▸ DriveMind ▸ Location. "While Using" means DriveMind cannot notice a drive that starts while your phone is in your pocket.
- Motion & Fitness must be on. iOS ▸ Settings ▸ DriveMind ▸ Motion & Fitness. This is what lets DriveMind tell driving from walking cheaply, without leaving the GPS running.
- Precise Location must be on. With it off, iOS gives DriveMind a neighbourhood rather than a position, and no route can be drawn.
- Low Power Mode suspends background location work. If it is on all day, AutoStart will miss drives.
In the app, Settings ▸ Auto trip detection shows which of these are satisfied and what mode AutoStart is running in.
A drive was recorded, but the beginning is missing
This is expected to a degree. DriveMind waits until it is confident you are driving rather than walking or on a bus, because a false start creates a junk trip that you then have to delete. The first few hundred metres are usually the cost of that confidence. If whole minutes are missing, check Precise Location and Motion & Fitness above.
It recorded a trip when I was a passenger, or on a train
Open the trip and delete it, or correct the vehicle on the trip's detail screen. DriveMind uses motion and speed to decide, and neither can tell a driver from a passenger.
Does this drain my battery?
DriveMind sits in a low-power standby between drives and only raises GPS accuracy once it believes you are actually driving. It is not streaming your location all day. Recording an active drive does use meaningful power, as any GPS app does.
Mileage & tax reports
How do I export a mileage report?
Insights ▸ Tax Report. Choose the year and the purposes you want included, and export as PDF or CSV through the iOS share sheet — to Files, to Mail, or straight to your accountant.
What rate does it use?
The IRS standard mileage rate for the year the drive happened, not the rate today. A report covering two years uses each year's own rate.
Can I classify drives automatically?
Yes — purpose rules classify by the day and time a drive happens, so a weekday morning commute can log itself as Business. You can always override a single trip afterwards.
I have more than one car
Add them in Garage. If a car connects over CarPlay or Bluetooth, DriveMind stamps the trip with it automatically. Reports and mileage totals can be filtered per vehicle.
Subscription & purchases
I paid, but premium features are still locked
Use Settings ▸ Restore Purchases. This asks Apple directly what your Apple Account owns and re-applies it. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account you bought with — a family member's account, or a second Apple Account, is the usual explanation.
How do I cancel?
Subscriptions are billed by Apple, not by DriveMind, so cancellation happens in iOS ▸ Settings ▸ your name ▸ Subscriptions ▸ DriveMind. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
I want a refund
Refunds are handled entirely by Apple — we never see your payment details and cannot issue one. Use reportaproblem.apple.com with the Apple Account that made the purchase.
What does the lifetime purchase include?
The same as Premium, bought once instead of renewing. If a future feature is premium, a lifetime purchase covers it.
Data, backup & your account
I got a new iPhone. How do I bring my drives across?
If iCloud backup was on in DriveMind, sign in to the same iCloud account on the new phone, install DriveMind and open it — trips, places and fuel logs restore from your own iCloud. Restoring a full iPhone backup also brings everything.
Two things deliberately do not travel: your insurance and registration documents (unless you turned backup on for them yourself) and your private places. Both are excluded because they are the most sensitive things in the app. If you have ever set up a private place, check Settings ▸ Privacy ▸ Private places after moving.
Where is my data actually stored?
On your iPhone. Backup goes to your own iCloud account, which we cannot read. There is no DriveMind server holding your driving history. See the privacy policy.
Do I need an account?
No. Everything except Friends works fully signed out. An account exists only so another person can be connected to you.
How do I delete my account?
Settings ▸ Account ▸ Delete account. Your drives, places and reports stay on your iPhone — it is the account that is deleted. Full detail on the account deletion page.
How do I delete a single trip?
Swipe it in the trip list, or open it and use the delete action. Deleted trips are removed from your device and from your iCloud copy.
Still stuck?
Email is the right answer. Include your iPhone model, your iOS version, the DriveMind version from Settings ▸ About, and what you expected to happen.
