Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 August 2026 · Applies to DriveMind for iPhone

The short version. Your drives are recorded and analyzed on your iPhone. Backup goes to your own iCloud account, which we cannot read. Nothing reaches another person unless you grant it, one friend and one item at a time. We do not sell your personal information, and we never will.

1. Introduction

Welcome to DriveMind! Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how DriveMind handles your data.

2. DriveMind Promise

At DriveMind, your privacy isn't just a policy — it's a commitment. We believe that your driving data belongs to you, and only you.

  • We will never sell your personal information.
  • Your detailed trip data — like routes, notes, and tags — is stored locally on your device and, if you choose, securely in your iCloud account.
  • You have full control over your data at all times, with easy options to delete or export your information.
  • Nothing is ever shared with another person unless you grant it, one friend and one item at a time — see section 6.
  • We collect only anonymized usage insights to help improve the app.

DriveMind exists to make your driving smarter and safer — not to invade your privacy.

3. Data We Store

DriveMind stores the following data locally on your device:

  • GPS location data
  • Speed logs
  • Trip summaries
  • Notes you add to your trips
  • Automatically generated trip tags using on-device machine learning

In addition, DriveMind collects anonymized usage insights for analytics purposes. Your data stays private. We do not and will not sell your personal information.

4. Where Your Data is Stored

Your full trip data is stored locally on your device and optionally synced via Apple iCloud (if enabled). It is never sent to us.

The one exception is what you deliberately share with a friend, which is a blurred summary rather than your trip data — see section 6.

DriveMind also collects minimal, anonymized metadata for analytics and development purposes.

5. Your Account

DriveMind works without an account. You only need one to use Friends.

An account is created with Sign in with Apple. Apple gives us a stable identifier for your Apple ID and, on your first sign-in, an email address — often a private @privaterelay.appleid.com relay address. Both are held by Supabase, our authentication provider, and are used for one thing: knowing that it is you. Signing in with Apple does not add you to any mailing list, relay address or not.

⚠️ Signing in on its own creates nothing else. No profile, no name, no key is published until you open Friends and choose to. You can delete your account, and everything attached to it, from Settings ▸ Account.

6. Sharing With Friends

Nothing is shared unless you grant it, to one named person, one thing at a time. There is no global "sharing on" switch, because a switch is something that can be left on by accident.

What can be shared, only if you grant it:

  • Individual statistics — your distance, your best 0–60, and similar single numbers.
  • A blurred version of your driving heat map. What leaves your device is a grid of squares, not a route and not a coordinate. The finest square we will ever publish is 150 metres of ground, and the usual setting is larger. You choose the size, and the screen always tells you the real size rather than the setting's name.

What is never shared, at any setting: your routes, your individual trips, your notes, your places, your dash cam footage, and your live or current location. There is no live-location feature in DriveMind.

We cannot read what you share. Anything you publish for a friend is encrypted on your device with a key only that friend can open. We hold the encrypted result and cannot see inside it.

⚠️ Turning off sharing stops new updates; it cannot un-see what a friend already saw. When you revoke, we delete what is on our server and your friend's app stops showing it — but anything already on their phone or in their memory is beyond our reach. This is true of every app and we would rather say it than imply otherwise.

7. Private Places

You can draw a circle on a map — around your home, or anywhere — and no location inside it is ever published to anyone, at any resolution. The filtering happens on your device, before anything is built or sent.

Private places are stored only on your device. They are deliberately not synced to iCloud and are not included in DriveMind's settings backup, because the list of places you want hidden is itself sensitive.

⚠️ The consequence of that choice, stated plainly: if you move to a new phone without restoring an iPhone backup, your private places do not come with you, and DriveMind cannot tell that they are missing. If you have ever set one up, check Settings ▸ Privacy ▸ Private places after moving to a new device.

8. Dash Cam Video Privacy

All dash cam videos recorded using DriveMind are stored locally on your iPhone. These videos are never uploaded to any server, cloud, or external service by us. Only you have access to your dash cam footage — no one can view, access, or retrieve your videos under any circumstance. You have full control to delete or manage your dash cam recordings at any time.

9. Email Collection

When you enter your email (e.g., to receive updates, etc.), DriveMind may store this information securely using OneSignal, a secure and trusted third-party service, used for sending push notifications. Your email is used solely for communication purposes and is never shared or sold. For more information, please refer to OneSignal's Privacy Policy.

10. Push Notifications

DriveMind uses OneSignal and Apple's notification system to deliver smart reminders and updates. Notification tokens may be collected to enable delivery but are not linked to any personal data. You can manage notification settings in your device preferences.

11. Machine Learning (DriveMind Intelligence™)

Trip tags and DriveSense™ events are generated using CoreML, Apple's on-device machine learning framework. DriveSense™ analyzes ambient audio to detect sounds such as horns and sirens. All audio analysis is performed entirely on-device — no audio is recorded, stored, or sent to external servers.

12. Subscription Management

DriveMind may check your subscription status using Apple's StoreKit APIs. No identifying or sensitive information is collected or stored by us in this process.

13. Managing Your Data

You have full control over your data. You can delete trips and notes directly within the app. Deleted data is permanently removed from your device and iCloud.

If you have an account, Settings ▸ Account deletes it along with your profile, your friendships and everything you had shared.

⚠️ Deleting or revoking removes what we hold, and stops your friends' apps from showing it. It cannot reach a copy already downloaded to someone else's phone — see section 6.

14. Third-Party Services

DriveMind uses trusted, industry-standard analytics tools to improve app performance and user experience. Only anonymized metadata is collected.

15. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the app.
