Your account
Deleting your DriveMind account
It takes about thirty seconds, from inside the app, and it cannot be undone.
Most people do not have one. DriveMind works fully signed out, and an account
is only ever created if you make one to use Friends. Friends is not in every
version of the app — if your Settings screen has no Account row, your copy of
DriveMind has never created an account and there is nothing here to delete. Removing the app
is enough, and your drives were only ever on your own iPhone regardless.
How to delete it
If Settings ▸ Account is not present in your version, skip this — you do not have an account.
- Open DriveMind and go to Settings.
- Tap Account.
- Scroll to Danger zone and tap Delete account.
- Read what will be deleted, then confirm with Sign in with Apple. Signing in again is how DriveMind proves it is you and gets the one-time code it needs to revoke its own access at Apple.
What is deleted
- Your account itself, and the identifier Apple gave us for your Apple ID.
- Your profile, your handle and your published key.
- Your friendships, in both directions.
- Everything you had shared with anyone — the encrypted payloads and the keys that open them.
- DriveMind's access to your Apple ID is revoked, so it disappears from Sign in with Apple in your iOS settings.
What stays
- Your drives. They are on your iPhone and were never on our server.
- Your places, fuel logs, documents, dash cam footage and reports — all local.
- Your iCloud backup, which is in your own iCloud account, not ours.
- Your subscription is not cancelled. It is billed by Apple and has nothing to do with your account. Cancel it in iOS Settings ▸ your name ▸ Subscriptions.
One honest limit. Deleting your account removes what we hold and stops your
friends' apps from showing it. It cannot reach a copy already downloaded to somebody else's
phone. This is true of every app, and we would rather say it than imply otherwise.
If you cannot get into the app
Email drivemind@icloud.com from the address associated with your account and say what has happened. Because sign-in is handled by Apple and we hold no password, verifying you without the app takes a little longer — but it is possible.
More detail on what an account is and is not, in the privacy policy, sections 5 and 13.
